It is used to treat a wide range of systemic and superficial fungal infections caused by Candida and Cryptococcus species. Administered via IV, it is especially effective for patients unable to take oral medication or those with severe infections such as candidemia, cryptococcal meningitis, and fungal infections in immunocompromised individuals.
